BA (Hons) Degree Course Aims

The Programme is:

A BA Degree in International Golf Management (BA), it is a UK BA (Hons) degree validated by The University of St Mark and St John  (Marjon.ac.uk) and delivered by The Cornwall College Group.

We offer two full 3 year degrees:

  • BA (HONS) International Golf Management
  • BA (HONS) International Business Management (with Professional Golf).

Formal programme aims:

  • Provide students with the key principles and concepts of Golf Management both nationally and internationally.

  • Ensure that graduates of the programme meet the expectations of employers as competent golf managers who can apply scientific understanding and management principles to their practice, predict the outcomes of their actions and generate policy and management initiatives.

  • Provide students with a range of practical skills and competencies relevant to a career as a Golf manager.

  • Enable graduates to acquire and demonstrate a range of academic and study skills to allow them to proceed to Honours (level 6) and to continue with life-long learning.

  • Equip students with the necessary skills and qualifications, which will allow them to gain purposeful employment within the Golf industry and/or to allow them to progress to further study.

We provide daily golf tuition to develop your long game, your short game and course skills.
Plus, you will regularly benefit from:

  • Group and 1 to 1 lessons and mentoring time with our professional golf coaches.
  • 3 sessions during your year with Ryder Cup coach, Denis Pugh, a Master OGA Professional.
  • A personalised Mental Toughnest Programmes.

Defining Branding; Brand Image; Brand Identity; Generic Dimensions of Brands Communication, Reputation and Loyalty; Stretching the Brand; Contemporary Aspects; Luxury Branding; Branding and Consumer Decision Making, B2B Communication, Brand communication.

The student undertaking a process of self-reflection and development related to their progression and engagement within a professional golf environment.

The development of conceptual and practical skills in personal development planning for study at degree level and readiness for employability. Development of team working, decision-making, problem solving and communication skills.

This module will typically include:
Current issues influencing international business, including but not limited to globalization, trade, economic polies and economic integration, business ethics and the challenges facing business.

This module will typically include:
Development of the golf Tourism Market, factors effecting sales and resort development
Event management concepts, structure, and feasibility.
Organisation, legislation ,communication, and motivation in an event management context.

This module will typically include:
Introduction to the key digital marketing and e-commerce environment. Concepts frameworks and approaches to digital marketing and e-business.

This module will typically include:
Introduction to the key concepts of project management, understanding of the primary tools available to project managers including but not limited to work structures, critical path, single point accountability, Gantt charts and accountability. Planning methods and techniques. The use of software in project management. Skills of a successful project manager.

This module will typically include:
Sponsorship to gain completive advantage, development of sponsorship programmes, ethical impact, relationship to other communication tools, interaction with “new” media, evaluation and measurement of campaigns, ambush and viral marketing.

This module will typically include:
Enable to the student to develop and deliver a short research project. The module will enable the student to plan and organise the collection of original data either from a primary or secondary source. The student will construct and present a project in a suitable agreed format. The module will enable the student to develop skills in independent learning, project and time management alongside appropriate communication and presentation skills.

To facilitate delivery, the programme will have extensive online resources and students will have access to journals and other academic text through the various portals.

The programme will have the following dedicated resources available to it:

  • Teaching at golf development bases East Sussex National Golf Resort, Lindfield Golf Club and Islantila Golf Resort including:
  • East Sussex National Golf Resort
  • 2 x 18 hole championship golf courses, covered driving range, 2 putting greens, 3 hole training course, onsite gym and teaching rooms.
  • Lindfield Golf
  • 18 Hole Golf Courses, Covered driving range, 90 yard pitching area, putting green, onsite gym and 2 class rooms
  • Isla Canela Golf Resort – Spain
  • 27 hole championship golf course, driving range, putting green, onsite gym and teaching rooms

  • Body track analyst system

Teaching Resources

  • Learning and resource centre with current texts and journals, as well as access to online journals
  • TCCG has a comprehensive VLE that allows students to access teaching resources from any internet enabled PC worldwide
  • The programme staff typically include lecture slides; hand-outs, assignment briefs, reading lists, module handbooks, additional reading and links to other information and sources on this resource.
